Bhopal Litigation/Plant Ownership Timeline

At the time of the Bhopal gas tragedy of 1984, Union Carbide of India Limited (UCIL) operated the Bhopal plant, as was required by Indian law. Union Carbide Corporation (UCC) owned 50.99 shares in the Bhopal plant. The plant was situated on land owned by the Madhya Pradesh State Government that it leased to UCIL.
